The Joy team from Edmonton returned home on July 13. The managed to get a lot accomplished while they were here. The biggest project was pouring a section of the roof of the boys' dorm.
The team also poured a concrete slab for a parking lot by the boys' dorm.
The team held two vacation bible school classes for the kids where they team shared a bible story, a skit, some songs and a craft with the kids.
For the mid week church service the team visited a small Presbyterian church that has 25 people attending on average. The elders were very welcoming and we had a good time of fellowship with them (there is no pastor at the church since they can't afford one).
As a special treat the team went to Sirloin stockade on one of their last evenings at Dulce Refugio. The food was great but it was even better getting the leader of the team with a fake birthday celebration put on by the staff of Sirloin.
The team hosted a hot dog barbeque for the children along with a goodbye ceremony put on by Marce.
The goodbye ceremony
The team brought up 450 blocks on to the roof of the boys' dorm so a small pony wall could be put around the edge of the roof as well as the bases for the water cisterns could be made.
The team had the opportunity to go to the town of Guanajuato for their day off, exploring Mexico.
The team took the children of a local park after the Sunday service. It was a fun outing for everyone.
Soon I will post pictures of the 10 year anniversary of Dulce Refugio that was celebrated on July 15!!!
